What is mediation?
A process of resolving disputes between two or more parties, where an independent third party, a mediator, assists the parties to reach settlement. Mediation is an alternative to the often lengthy and more expensive legal process.
Is InterResolve completely independent?
Yes, the InterResolve Group is a neutral mediation body accredited by the UK Civil
Mediation Council www.civilmediation.org
Will I ever have to pay anything for using the InterResolve scheme?
No, so long as you use the scheme to settle your claim. You are entitled to a cooling off period of 14 days from the date you sign your consent form. However, beyond this period, should you choose to pursue your claim elsewhere, abandon your claim or if you provide us with untruthful or misleading information, you may be liable for certain costs.
Will I have access to independent legal advice?
Yes, you will always have access to advice from a specialist injury solicitor where required.
How long will it take to settle my injury claim?
This depends on the nature of your injury, but usually InterResolve can now get your claim settled in a few months.
How are InterResolve’s fees paid?
The insurer of the other driver will also pay our fees in the same way they would pay your legal costs.
Why will insurers and lawyers now use mediation instead of lengthy court proceedings?
Many now recognise the benefits. They are also now required to do this by the courts themselves. The court is still there as a last resort if you need it.
